Hi there! I'm Valerie,

I am a full time student and fitness-obsessed. My dreams are big and my goals are endless but they all lead me to who I want to become. I will live a healthy lifestyle and live freely along with my long-time boyfriend. I hope to convert a bus into a tiny home and travel the country for once in a lifetime experiences! But behind all this, there is one constant throughout my life. And that is fitness. I believe in healthy not skinny. I strive to become the best version of myself by eating the right foods, pushing my body past its limits (what limits?!), and doing whatever I can to make myself and those around me happy!

However, I know fitness can be tough, lonely, and even bitter at times. I am not going to act like it’s not. It is. Here, I will share and discuss the nitty-gritty and celebrate the beauty and truths that I have found along the way throughout my life’s journey. I hope to express that no matter how “plain” you may seem because you aren’t like everyone else, it is actually what makes you even more amazing. Hence Typical Chic. Finding the beautiful (chic) in the “plain” and the everyday (typical).

I know working out is hard, and quite frankly it is scary. There is insecurity every step of the way but there is also empowerment! You don’t know how to make the first step or what the first step even is or maybe even where you are going. That is okay. You don’t have to know it all at once. I never did. I know that you need guidance, and help, and a little love and recognition. You need support and community and conversations. I am here to offer all of that.

Right now you have probably just bought a new pair of running shoes, a gym membership, and a yoga mat. Now what? You are clueless of how to use the machines in the gym so you stick to only two or three of the things you know. You get bored of working out after a week and quit. Or you feel like you can’t ever eat healthy or possibly keep up with a meal plan. It’s okay. Take a deep breath, and I will walk you through it all step by step so that you can achieve the goals you want. And along the way, I will be sharing my story and my personal life with you as well. Because we all have a different story to tell and you can’t fully get to know a person when you only learn about one aspect of their lives.

I have felt the exact same way since day 1. I have never had a super supportive group and I never felt comfortable talking about my goals and hard work to anyone. It makes it extremely lonely and disappointing. When you can’t celebrate your wins, you never feel like you’re making any progress. I have worked out in my bedroom, at the gym, and taken some fitness classes. You could say I have “done it all”. I have a taste of the different options that are out there for you to workout. I can share my experiences and from them, you can decide which best suits you and go after it. Attack it! And never be afraid to ask me questions or for support! I have got your back 10000%! I want this to be a place where we all celebrate each other’s wins, no matter how small, but still keep each other accountable!!! I have also learned a lot mentally and emotionally along my fitness journey while pushing myself and listening to motivational speeches. I hope to share these thoughts with you as well and even learn from you too! I am still in the process of becoming the person I want to be both inside and out. Yet what I have learned could save you from having to make those mistakes too.

After spending time here and joining the community, you will have a supportive community that has your back 24/7 and that makes your fitness journey even more enjoyable! You will learn a lot about who you are, what you can do, and what you add into this beautiful world. You will know how to achieve your goals and never be struck down again by the fear of the first step. You will have the lifestyle you want. The body you want. The habits you want. The goals you want. You will be the person you strive to become!
